16 Nov - Director Ridley Scott recently revealed that he has finally finished writing the script for the sequel to his hit 2000 historical epic, "Gladiator". The filmmaker shared the good news with Deadline recently, saying, "Oh, it's been written. It's already been written. We have a good footprint, a good, logical place to go. You can't just do another Gladiator type movie. You've got to follow... there's enough components from the first one to pick up the ball and continue it." The sequel reportedly will begin filming after Scott's upcoming new film "Kitbag", a historical movie about Napoleon Bonaparte starring Joaquin Phoenix - who also played Commodus in "Gladiator". "Gladiator 2" reportedly will follow Lucius, the son of Lucilla, Maximus's former lover and the older child of Marcus Aurelius. Russell Crowe, who played the lead in the original, reportedly will reprise his role as Maximus, despite the character's death in the first film.
No news as to who will be cast in the upcoming film. On the other hand, Scott's new movie, "House of Gucci", will be released on 24 November.
