3 Feb – After a long anticipated wait, local short-film "The Signature" was finally launched online to audiences via the Facebook page of Fikir Transplant with ODISSeA on 1 February, and will be available till 6 February. The short-film was made with the collaboration of ODISSeA Malaysia (Organ Donation Innovative Strategies for South-East Asia), and produced by Winning Pix with the cooperation of Universiti Malaya (UM) dan Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM). Prior to its premiere in Malaysia, "The Signature" had received accolades at international film festivals such as winning the Honourable Jury Mention Award at the 9th Bangalore Shorts Film Festival 2020, and it was the Official Selection under the Sustainable Development category at the 12th International Unseen Film Festival at Bilbao, Spain, last year.
The film shares the story of a kind hearted young lady named Yati who had sustained serious injuries as the result of an accident. After she was subsequently declared brain dead, not only does her family grieve her passing, but they are proud of her good and honourable deeds that had enabled others to continue living. The objective and focus of this short-film is to raise the public awareness about the importance of organ donation in our country. "The Signature" is directed by Sim Ewe Jin with Marisa Majella Paramaraj and Azarudin B. Ellwey in the lead roles.
