27 Dec – Tom Holland is officially the most bankable Marvel-Sony superhero, now that "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has broken record as the first pandemic era movie to cross the USD 1 billion mark at the global box office.

The movie made the milestone in 12 days, making it the third fastest film to reach the billion-dollar benchmark, tying with 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The record is still held by 2018 and 2019's "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame", which broke the 1 billion-mark in 11 and five days, respectively.

However, it is still a more impressive feat for "Spider-Man: No Way Home", seeing that the film premiered not only during the pandemic, but just as the omicron variant of COVID-19 began to rapidly spread.

This also means that the film has now knocked over the position of the James Bond sequel, "No Time to Die", which grossed USD 774 million worldwide to become the highest grossing Hollywood movie in 2021, as well as China's "The Battle of Lake Changjin" as 2021's highest grossing movie worldwide - without even having to screen in China, which is currently the biggest market for movies.

Another good news is, there is no other movie that's going to take the throne away, now that 2021 is drawing to a close.
