7 Sep – Tan Lay Han, the former Maxis Chief Sales & Service Officer, has now been appointed the new CEO and Executive Director of TGV Cinemas.

The news was announced by Shaharul Rezza Hassan, Chairman of TGV, stating, "Lay Han brings with him a wealth of experience in understanding, anticipating, and responding to evolving consumer needs, a key dependency for cinemas as the industry looks towards a post COVID future."

"We have every confidence in Lay Han's ability to lead TGV, given his strong understanding of the business and his deep knowledge of consumer dynamics."

Majority of cinema-goers are eager to watch movies again, subject to stringent SOPs

It is noted that Tan is no stranger to TGV, having been involved in the conception of the cinema chain and became its founding General Manager after joining Tanjong Plc in 1994.

He later joined Maxis in 1999, where he played an important part in the telecommunications industry.

Tan will have a big task ahead of him, with the cinema business facing a huge loss following the series of lockdowns and strict SOPs due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the past year.
