30 Apr – Jason Statham recently revealed that there will indeed be a sequel to his 2018 sci-fi action creature feature, "The Meg". The actor shared the good news while promoting his latest movie, "Wrath of Man", saying that shooting will begin in January. "Ben Wheatley is the director. I'm very excited to work with him. I'm thrilled to get going, it's been a while. We've been waiting around for the right scripts to come in and the right director to turn up, and we've got all those things and they're all stacked up now," he enthused. He continued to sing praises for the "Rebecca" director, stating that the two of them have similar taste, and that they have a good shot at making something good.
While the movie has yet to get a release date, there is a possibility for it to open in summer 2023. The first film, helmed by "National Treasure" director Jon Turteltaub, made a splash at the box office with USD 530 million worldwide. It stars Statham alongside Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Cliff Curtis, Ruby Rose, and Masi Oka and was loosely based on the 1997 book "Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror" by Steve Alten.
