7 Dec – Tom Holland recently confirmed that he is set to portray Fred Astaire in a new movie.

The "Spider-Man" actor shared the news with AP while promoting the latest "Spider-Man" movie on 5 December, saying that the script for the upcoming project has already arrived but that he has yet to read it.

"They haven't given it to me. I know Amy Pascal has the script. She Facetimed me earlier when I was in the bath and we had a lovely Facetime. But I will be playing Fred Astaire," he said.

The upcoming movie reportedly will be produced by Sony. However, the studio is still keeping mum about it for the time being.

It is noted that Pascal previously mentioned that she has been eyeing Holland for the role during an interview for GQ magazine.

The actor could be a great choice to play the legendary dancer, singer and choreographer, who was most known for his movies like "Shall We Dance", "Holiday Inn" and "Easter Parade".

Other than web-slinging, the actor had previously displayed his dancing prowess by performing Gene Kelly's "Singing in the Rain" as well as Rihanna's "Umbrella" dance on the Comedy Central show, "Lip Sync Battle."
