12 Jan – Remember last year when Andrew Garfield went on to deny his involvement in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" in various interviews in such desperation that you just wanted to believe him? Well, according to "The Amazing Spider-Man" star, he really enjoyed lying flat out to everybody about it. "It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun," said Garfield in an interview. "There were moments where I was like, 'God, I hate lying.' I don't like to lie and I'm not a good liar, but I kept framing it as a game. And I kept imagining myself purely as a fan of that character, which is not hard to do." Garfield said that he placed himself in the position of the audience, asking himself if he would rather want to keep guessing or to discover it when he goes to the theatres.
"I would want the actor to do an incredibly good job at convincing me he wasn't in it. And then I would want to lose my mind in the theater when my instinct was proven right. That's what I would want," he said. The guessing game did make it twice as satisfying for fans, when their speculations were proven to be right, seeing that Garfield was also part of the Tom Holland-starrer, appearing alongside Tobey Maguire. The film recently made it to the sixth place for the top grossing Hollywood movies of all time, a great feat seeing that it was released during the pandemic.
