8 Jul – Malaysian film, "Stone Turtle" is making a record for being the first Malay-language film to be competing at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland.

The news was shared by studio, Greenlight Pictures, stating that the film has been selected to the Main Competition (Concorso Internazionale).

In addition, its director Woo Ming Jin is also nominated in the Best Director category, while both of his lead actors, Bront Palarae and Indonesian actress Asmara Abigail are in the running for Best Actor and Best Actress awards.

"Stone Turtle", according to the studio, is a "dramatic thriller that mixes live action and animation; it is a time traveling tale of a woman living in the east coast, who gets entangled with a man in a dangerous dance of duplicity and deception."

Woo, Bront and Asmara are expected to attend the festival, which will be running from 3 to 13 August.
