23 Mar – A new scribe has been hired for the sequel to the hit 2019 movie, "Crazy Rich Asians", after the previous two writers, Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim left following the previous controversy.

Chinese-Australian Amy Wang will be penning the script on her own for the upcoming Jon M. Chu film, though details are being kept under wraps for the time being.

It is noted that Adele Lim, a Malaysian-American producer and screenwriter walked away from the two planned sequels of the hit show after it was revealed that she was paid almost ten times less than Chiarelli for the first movie. Lim was paid USD 110,000-plus in comparison to Chiarelli's USD 800,000 to USD 1 million.

One of the reasons that was given at the time was due to Lim's lack of film credits, despite the fact that she has worked on numerous TV shows including "Xena: Warrior Princess", "John Doe", and "Dynasty".

On the other hand, Chiarelli had two screenwriting experience prior to "Crazy Rich Asians", which includes the Jesse Eisenberg-starrer, "Now You See Me 2".

Lim was highly supported by Chu when she decided to speak up on the issue, stating that he had tried to discuss with Lim and Warner executives, but that the former decided to decline the offer. She had since gone on to work on "Raya and the Last Dragon".
