11 Feb – Russell Crowe has been announced as the latest star to join Sony's Marvel movie, "Kraven the Hunter". Although the actor's role in the movie is still being kept a secret, he will be joining Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who will be playing the titular antihero.
The upcoming film will be directed by J.C. Chandor ("Margin Call", "A Most Violent Year"), based on the script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk. Kraven is one of Spider-Man's adversaries that was first introduced in "The Amazing Spider-Man" issue #15 in 1964. He is typically portrayed as a big-game hunter whose goal is to prove himself as the world's greatest hunter and is seen as an antihero rather than a villain. Kraven is just one of the many Sony projects revolving around its universe of Marvel characters aside from Venom, and Morbius. The studio also recently announced that it is developing "Madame Web" with Dakota Johnson in the lead. Crowe is also set to appear in Taika Waititi's upcoming Marvel movie, "Thor: Love and Thunder", to be released in July.
