16 Jun – Netflix's hit 2020 movie, "The Old Guard" has now begun filming its sequel. The news was revealed by Victoria Mahoney, director of movie number two, who posted a photo from the set on 13 June, and wrote, "Day1:#TheOldGuard2/#TheOldGuard". It is noted Mahoney came in to replace Gina Prince-Bythewood, who directed the original movie. However, the said director remains on as an executive producer.
The film will see the return of Charlize Theron and KiKi Layne, alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, and Veronica Ngo, and new additions like Uma Thurman and Henry Golding. Prior to the announcement, Theron surprised many by appearing at an event with a jet-black mullet, which many said to be her new hairdo for the second movie. "The Old Guard" is based on Greg Rucka's comic book of the same name that follows a team of immortal mercenaries on a revenge mission.
