26 Sep – The upcoming movie, "Ballerina", a spinoff of "John Wick" is set to begin filming this autumn. It was reported that its star Ana de Armas is currently prepping up for the project, which will be directed by Len Wiseman ("Underworld") from a script by Shay Hatten ("John Wick" Parabellum"). On the other hand, "John Wick" director Chad Stahelski will be producing the movie.
Speaking about the movie, de Armas, who's most recently seen playing Marilyn Monroe in "Blonde", stated that she is looking forward to the movie, but hopes to add more counterbalance after working on several action movies in recent years. It is noted that the actress' most recent action flicks are "The Gray Man" and James Bond movie, "No Time to Die". "Without me planning on it, I'm doing all these action films that are fun but touch me in a different way," said the Cuban actress. "I hope that now I can start balancing both things, because it has felt very one-note. I've done too many together." "Ballerina" is presumed to be based on the mythology in "Parabellum", in which John Wick's adoptive mother The Director (Anjelica Huston) runs the Ruska Roma, a Russian ballet school that is a front for training elite assassins.
