13 Jun – After months of finding the right actress for the job, it was reported that Julia Garner will be playing Madonna in the upcoming biopic about the said pop star. The news was confirmed by Universal on 7 June, saying that the "Ozark" actress is their top choice to play Madonna, after auditioning several candidates that include Emma Laird, Alexa Demie, and Florence Pugh. The upcoming movie will be helmed by the "Material Girl" herself, from the script written by "Juno" writer, Diablo Cody. It will follow the early days of Madonna's life.
Said the singer, "I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer - a human being trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It's essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision." Julia became a household name earlier this year after playing the German faux heiress Anna Sorokin/Anna Delvey in Netflix's series, "Inventing Anna".
