7 Mar – Lin-Manuel Miranda recently admitted that he would love to return to the world of Disney's "Encanto" in the future.
The musician and filmmaker, who was one of the people involved in the making of the hit animated feature, shared as much in an interview with Collider, expressing belief that there is still a story to tell when it comes to the Madrigal family.
"I do think there's an appetite to further explore the Madrigal family, given how many characters there are, and how many gifts there are. And also, where we leave the story. Now there is sort of this more fully realised version of themselves. Which way can we go? I think it's a question of when and not if, and what form that will take. Is that another movie? Is that a series? Is that a stage adaptation where we have a little more time, because stage shows are generally an hour longer than movies?" he said.
Miranda also stated that he is down to continue to explore it, and to write more on the two most beloved characters of the film, Dolores and Camilo.
"I'd love to write more for them. I'd love to write more for Isabela. So, I'm not sure what the next form of that will be, but we haven't had specific conversations about it's this or it's this," he said.
At the same time, he also stated that he has loved every single meme and video made by fans about the movie, saying, "Everything you guys are making, we are enjoying."
Featuring the voice talents of Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, and Angie Cepeda among others, the 2021 film revolves around the 15-year-old Mirabel, the only member of the magical family of Madrigal, who has never been granted her own gift.
