16 Feb – Following the release of Amazon's TV prequel, "Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power" trailer, it was revealed that another J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired project has found its release date. Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema recently announced that its upcoming anime stand-alone movie, "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" will be arriving in theatres on 12 April 2024. Set 250 years before the events of the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy, "The War of the Rohirrim" will dive into the era of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary King of Rohan who constructs the stronghold of Helm's Deep.
The project, which was first announced in June last year, is helmed by "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" director Kenji Kamiyama, with the story by Jeffrey Addis and Will Matthews of "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" fame. There is no further information as to the voice casting, which reportedly will be revealed sometime after February 2022.
