12 Dec – The feature film of the hit animated series "Mechamato" has made RM5 million at the box office. The news was shared via the series' official Instagram account, stating, "Alhamdulillah, Mechamato Movie was able to collect RM5 million within 3 days of screening. "Thank you so much for the solid support from everyone regardless of age‼ Keep watching #MechamatoMovie at the cinema near you. I see a lot of comments that the kids started doing silat when they leave the cinema!"
It was just Friday last week that the company Animonsta revealed that the movie made RM1.1 million at the box office after only a day's release. In a previous interview, the studio stated that audiences with no knowledge about the show would not need to watch the series before going to the cinemas for the film version, seeing that the movie itself is an origin story of Amato and MechaBot. A prequel to hit series, "BoboiBoy", "Mechamato" takes place in a futuristic Malacca, where a young boy named Amato teams up with a sentient robot to take down other robots that have gone rogue. The series is now available on Netflix.
