27 Dec – Despite facing a huge competition, "Mechamato Movie" continues to prove that local animation has what it takes, as it has now made RM27 million at the box office. The news was announced via Mechamato's official Instagram account, which read, "Praise be to God, in 18 days, #MechamatoMovie successfully made RM27 million." "All of this would not have happened without the support of all of you out there. Thank you."
In a previous interview, Monsta's CEO Nizam Abd Razak stated that the movie was made with a budget of around RM30 million, and would need a lot of support for it to be considered a success. "It is very hard to earn a profit through only local release, which is why we are also focusing in exporting the movie outside the country beginning 2023," he said. It is noted that the film is competing with other big titles, including James Cameron's highly-anticipated "Avatar" sequel, "Avatar: The Way of Water" and the Hollywood animated feature, "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish".
