5 Jan – It looks like Sony's "Morbius" has delayed its release yet again. The movie, which was recently announced that it will be released on 28 January 2022, is now pushed back to 1 April 2022 and it is no April Fool's joke. The decision reportedly came as the world witness the rise of the omicron variant of COVID-19, while "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is also dominating the box office and seemingly crushing all the other contenders.
The April release means that the movie is well-positioned to have a strong opening, since there are no major movies releasing on the same date for now. Its biggest competition currently would be "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" - both releasing in the same month but a couple of weeks later. It is noted that the Jared Leto-starrer has already re-scheduled its release six times in the past, mostly due to the pandemic. Its first planned release date was July 2020.
