18 Oct – Rachel Zegler has no qualms with people mocking her upcoming movie, the Disney live-action remake of "Snow White", for being "politically correct". The Colombian-Polish actress, who will play the titular role in the movie that co-stars Gal Gadot, stated that she doesn't care about the jokes people made about the movie for being too PC, stressing that they needed that. "It's an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond 'Someday My Prince Will Come'," she stated.
It is noted that aside from her casting as Snow White, which has been mocked for supposedly being a performative activism on Disney's part, it was previously reported that consultants have also been brought in to address the representation of the film's dwarfism community. Said a Disney spokesperspon about the consultants, "To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period."
