18 Aug – Robert De Niro is set to play dual characters in the upcoming Warner Bros. movie, "Wise Guys". The film, which is intended for theatrical release, is based on the story of two Italian American crime bosses, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, and the event of 1957, in which Genovese tried to assassinate Costello. De Niro is expected to play both roles in the movie, that is to be directed by Barry Levinson of "Rain Man" fame.
The film will also be penned by Nicholas Pileggi, who co-wrote Martin Scorsese's crime epic "Goodfellas". This is the latest of De Niro's many crime-related films, with the latest being Netflix's "The Irishman". He is also set to appear in filmmaker David O. Russel's comeback film, "Amsterdam", as well as the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer, "Killers of the Flower Moon".
