20 Apr – Another SEGA franchise is coming to the big screen following the success of Paramount's "Sonic the Hedgehog" films. It was reported that "Streets of Rage", the Genesis home video game console title, will be helmed by Derek Kolstad of "John Wick" franchise, with script from Bob Odenkirk of "Better Call Saul" fame. Sonic producer dj2 Entertainment and Escape Artists (Equalizer franchise) will produce the film adaptation.
The original game, released in 1991, follows former police officers who battle a crime syndicate. It had since spawned multiple sequels across a variety of gaming platforms including the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The latest offering was "Streets of Rage 4", which was released in April 2020. No further details about the cast and plot have been released for the time being.
