Tim Burton says no more to Disney collaborations

26 Oct – Tim Burton recently stated that he has no plans to work with Disney again after the latest collaboration with the studio.

Burton, who started his career as a Disney animator, shared his thoughts while in France for the Lumiere Festival, calling it all a "horrible, big circus".

"My history is that I started out there. I was hired and fired like several times throughout my career there," said Burton. "The thing about Dumbo, is that's why I think my days with Disney are done, I realised that I was Dumbo, that I was working in this horrible big circus and I needed to escape."

"That movie is quite autobiographical at a certain level," he added.

Burton also criticised Disney for being very "homogenized and consolidated".

"There's less room for different types of things. I can only deal with one universe, l can't deal with a multi-universe," he said, shutting down any idea of helming any Marvel movie in the future.

Burton seems happy with his decision, especially now that he has his own project with Netflix, helming the upcoming release of the Addams' Family spinoff, "Wednesday" starring Jenna Ortega.
