5 Oct - Whoopi Goldberg wants people, especially film critics, to stop focusing on people's looks, after one made a claim that she wore a fat suit in the new Emmet Till biopic, "Till". The EGOT winner recently spoke on the issue on her show, "The View", saying that a young film critic for a magazine wrote about being distracted by her fat suit. "I don't really care how you felt about the movie, but you should know that was not a fat suit, that was me. That was steroids. Remember last year? I assume you don't watch the show [The View], or you would know that was not a fat suit," she explained. It is noted that Goldberg was absent from her show for a week last year after suffering from sciatica. She continued, "I just want to let you know that it's okay to not be a fan of a movie but you want to leave people's looks out. Just comment on the acting, and if you have a question, ask somebody. I'm sure you didn't mean to be demeaning." However, the actress made no mention as to who the film critic was nor the publication that he/she was a part of.
The new movie, "Till", which tells the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley, who sought justice for her 14-year-old son Emmett Till's brutal lynching in 1955, has Goldberg playing Alma Carthan, the mother of Mamie Till.
