17 Nov – The Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) 2023 was officially launched at GSC Mid Valley last night.
Showcasing a diverse and exciting selection of films from nine countries, the 21st edition of the festival will once again highlight the richness and diversity of Latin American & Caribbean culture and languages.
The Festival is a FREE event that celebrates the rich and varied cultures, languages and stories of this vibrant region through the power of cinema, highlighting their cultural heritage and creative industries. Don't miss this amazing chance to dive into their rich cultural tapestry through cinema!

Ms. Koh Mei Lee, CEO of Golden Screen Cinemas expressed in her opening speech, "We are honoured to be the long-term partner to host this culturally enriching event .. to promote cultural awareness through film festivals. For the opening remarks for the launch, the Ambassador of Argentina to Malaysia and Dean of the GRULAC Embassies to Malaysia, H.E. Manuel Balaguer Salas said, "Our cinema explores themes about identity, social justice and the human conditions. Latin America filmmakers infused to their works a unique blend of passion and purpose. The use of breathtaking landscapes and distinctive storytelling style often transport the audiences to find unfamiliar yet profoundly evocative worlds."
"I would say the Latin American cinema is a testament to power of storytelling and capturing the nuances of the human experiences. Allow me also to say that we are very proud to be able to celebrate the 21st anniversary of this festival," he concluded.

The LAFF will take place from 16-19 November at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, while its 3rd Edition in Penang will be from 30 November - 3 December at GSC Gurney Plaza.

The LAFF is organised by the Embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela to Malaysia, with the support of GSC and media partner Cinema Online.
For both GSC Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur and GSC Gurney Plaza in Penang, free tickets can be collected 1 hour prior to the respective showtimes.
