2 May – Jin Ong's latest film, "Abang Adik" has swept major accolades at the recently held Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF). The movie, which is also produced by actress Angelica Lee, won first place for the Golden Mulberry Audience Award, the Black Dragon Critics' Prize, as well as the White Mulberry Award for Best First Feature. The news was also shared by Angelica via social media, writing, "This is great. Received good news early in the morning. Congratulations to Abang Adik for winning three awards in the Competition section of the 25th Far East Film Festival."
The movie, which stars Malaysian actor Jack Tan and Taiwanese star Wu Kang-Ren, tells the story of two undocumented grownup orphans, Abang and Adi. While the older brother, a deaf mute, has resigned himself to a life of poverty, his younger sibling burns with indignation. A brutal accident upsets their relationship's fragile balance.
