16 Feb – After more than a year following the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, it was revealed that the Alec Baldwin Western film, "Rust" will resume filming this spring. The movie, which halted all production following the shooting incident that occurred in October 2021, will have Bianca Cline ("American Horror Story") replacing Hutchins as the cinematographer. At the same time, director Rachel Mason and producer Julee Metz will be filming a documentary about Hutchins. Both projects will have Halyna's husband, Matthew Hutchins serving as executive producer.
"Both Mason and Metz were close friends with Halyna, and they look forward to working with the production to honour their friend and show the brilliance and depth of Halyna's talent while conveying what her loss has meant to her friends, colleagues and the entire film industry," said Rust Movie Productions in a statement. The studio also added that the scene that was being rehearsed when the cinematographer was shot has been rewritten. The news came amid charges that were filed against Baldwin and armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed for involuntary manslaughter. It is noted that Hutchins died from the gunshot from an old-fashioned revolver that was being handled by Baldwin while the movie was in production in October 2021.
