28 Jun – Movies of the horror-comedy genre have always been a favourite of movie-goers, hence it is no surprise that Dato Awie, as the owner of Rumah Produksi Merah, produces and stars in the film, "Sue-On." According to Awie, real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, the horror-comedy genre is his obvious choice as he is now synonymous with this genre with the audiences. At the "Sue-On" Gala at GSC The Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya yesterday, the singer-actor said "Many viewers know me from movies like "Zombie Kampung Pisang" and "Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah. In fact they have accepted these kinds of roles that I played even though before that I was not a comedy actor." "So, I think it is necessary to take this opportunity to produce a film of this genre and here you have 'Sue-On.' I don't want people to be too afraid of ghosts, so I created a friendly ghost character. It's not that we can't make horror movies, but I want the audience to be happier and more relaxed when watching this movie. This is the beginning of Rumah Produksi Merah's step in film production," he added.
As a producer, Awie has high hopes for the movie to captivate and entertain the audiences. "It's not just me, but all those involved in this film including the director, actors and crew also definitely want to see this film succeed." "If "Sue-On" gets a good response, it will give me the opportunity to produce more films in the future," he said. Inspired by Japanese horror movies, "Sue-On" stars Awie, alongside Reen Rahim, Ropie, Azlee Senario, Nazia Mustafar, Achey, Shawani and many more, and will be shown in cinemas starting July 6.
