28 Nov – The producers of "Fast & Furious" have been fined £800,000 (USD 1 million) following a serious brain injury suffered by one of its stuntmen during the filming of the ninth instalment. A UK judge ordered for the fine to be paid, after criticising the stunt coordination team for the impact of their negligence that left stuntman Joe Watts with a broken skull. District Judge Talwinder Buttar also noted that Watts was "lucky to be alive" following the horrific incident.
The prosecution, which was brought by the Health and Safety Executive, revealed that Watts' safety line became detached during a stunt that was rehearsed but changed during filming in 2019. It was also revealed that the safety lines were not checked between takes. Watts, who broke his skull after falling eight metres onto concrete, had worked on many high-profile productions prior to the accident, including "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" and "Game of Thrones".
