12 May – After both the original lead actors expressing interest to return for a sequel, THR recently reported that Disney will indeed be producing "Freaky Friday 2". Lead actors Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are expected to reprise their roles as mother daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman in the body swap sequel, which will be penned by Elyse Hollander ("It Was Romance"). In a recent interview with The New York Times, Lohan and Curtis recalled working with each other on the 2003 movie, with the latter saying that working with Lohan was very easy from the start.
"My strongest memory is the scene where the two of us are in the car eating french fries. Now, if I get a text out of the blue, 'Hey, Jamie, it's Linds,' I say, 'Prove it. What was the song we were trying to learn the rap to during Freaky Friday?' If she answers Justin Timberlake's 'Like I Love You,' then I know it's Lindsay Lohan," said Curtis. Meanwhile, Lohan, who is currently pregnant with her first child, expressed, "Jamie and I are both open to [a sequel], so we're leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore." The 2003 Mark Waters movie, which was based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel, made USD 160 million at the box office.
