16 May - The James Gunn-directed "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" has now set another milestone, by crossing the half a billion mark in its second week. The Marvel movie, which made USD 300 million last week, has added more digits to the amount, as it has now accumulated USD 528.8 million at the global box office, with USD 315.6 million coming from international screenings.
This means that the movie is now the second biggest Hollywood release of the year following "The Super Mario Bros.", which is also a big screen vehicle for Chris Pratt. The latter has now made USD 1.21 billion at the box office. The animation is also now the fourth biggest animated movie of all time. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" was previously revealed to be the last movie of the franchise featuring the current the team. James Gunn had since gone on to manage the DC Studios.
