5 Jul – It was reported that Greta Gerwig is currently in talks to direct a feature film version of "The Chronicles of Narnia" for Netflix. The actress-turned-director, whose upcoming movie "Barbie" to be released this month, was revealed by New Yorker to be making a deal to direct two films of the franchise, which is based on CS Lewis' works of the same name. It was back in 2018 that Netflix's Ted Sarandos revealed that the company had acquired the TV and movie rights to the book series, though nothing has been announced regarding production since then.
If it comes to fruition, this will be Gerwig's first ever big budget fantasy work, having directed only "Lady Bird" and "Little Women" before moving on to "Barbie". The last "Narnia" movie was "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", which was released in 2010 by Disney.
