28 Jul – Local animation, "Horologist" has recently won Best Animation at the San Diego Comic-Con 2023. The news was shared by the creator and director, Jared Lee, stating, "I have no words other than a big thank you to everyone who said yes to this project, and everyone who've supported the manga. Friends, family and wife who believed in stories I've wanted to tell, and visions I couldn't describe properly in words. Will keep pushing for as long as I am able." He then thanked the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation and FINAS for making it possible.
The success of the movie was also commended by Minister of Communications and Digital of Malaysia, Fahmi Fadzil, who stated, "This is a huge achievement for Malaysian animation, as it is the first Malaysian animated film to win the award. On behalf of KKD, we are proud that he took advantage of a grant from the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to create this animated adaptation." Created during the pandemic by Grim Film and animation studio Dinohowl, "Horologist" tells the story of Sand, a shopkeeper who finds a way to sell time at a heavy cost. It is based on the first book of Lee and comic artist Cross' four-part manga collection, "The Grimoire".
