14 Feb – It's a battle of two Camerons as both of James Cameron's movies are now competing to earn the third spot in the highest-grossing movie of all time list. "Avatar: The Way of Water" recently overtook "Titanic" as the third highest-grossing movie, as it made USD 25.3 million over the weekend, amassing a global taking of USD 2.214 billion, surpassing the "Titanic" original number of 2.209 billion.
However, unlike the real ship that it is based on, "Titanic" continues to sail upward with its recent re-release, earning USD 22.3 million globally and increasing the total global earnings to USD 2.217 billion. It also looks to make more, seeing that it is Valentine's Day month. It is noted that three of the four highest grossing movies in the list is dominated by Cameron, whose 2009 movie, "Avatar" is still at the top with USD 2.92 billion.
