15 May – It was revealed that DC Studios head and upcoming director of "Superman: Legacy", James Gunn has now started the process of casting for the titular character. Deadline reported that the filmmaker has now begun watching audition tapes from aspiring talents, who have been submitting their tapes for the past several weeks. Sources claimed that among those who are considered for the role include "Renfield" star Nicholas Hoult, the Henry Cavill-lookalike David Corenswet, as well as Australian actor Jacob Elordi, most known for his character of Noah Flynn in "The Kissing Booth", as well as HBO's "Euphoria". Meanwhile, it was reported that several well-known actresses are also testing for Lois Lane, including Emma Mackey ("Sex Education"), scream queen Samara Weaving, as well as "Bridgerton" star, Phoebe Dynevor.
It was back in April that Gunn announced that he is starting work on the said project, which he penned himself. Since then, the director had been busy promoting his last Marvel Studios project, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3".
