20 Sep – After a mediocre head-to-head between the two movies, it looks like "The Nun II" has prevailed over "A Haunting in Venice" at the US box office.

The movie, which is the sequel to the 2018's gothic supernatural horror based on the character from "The Conjuring 2", brought in USD 14.5 million in the US in its second week, while the Kenneth Branagh third Hercule Poirot film, which had just opened, made USD 14.3 million.

Meanwhile, overseas, "The Nun II" made USD 30.1 million more in its second weekend for a global total of USD 158 million.

"A Haunting in Venice" stars Kenneth Branagh and Tina Fey among others

"The Nun II" follows the events of the 2018 movie, with Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) now serving in a convent in Italy but continues to be haunted by the demon Valak.

Meanwhile, "A Haunting in Venice" focuses more on the horror side of the story compared to its predecessors, with the movie adapting from the 1969 Agatha Christie novel, "Hallowe'en Party".

"The Nun II" continues to be the choice for international audience
