15 Aug - Rachel Zegler has found herself getting slammed left and right over several of her statements in interviews regarding the beloved fairy tale character, Snow White.

The actress, who is playing the OG Disney princess in an upcoming live-action remake of the first ever animated feature film, earlier spoke to Variety about the upcoming movie, saying that it is no longer 1937 and that Snow White won't be rescued by a prince or dreaming about true love.

"She's dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader her late father told her she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true," she said.

Many on TikTok had since blasted the idea, calling it pseudo-feminism and "Hollywood idea of feminism", with one saying, "Thinking that a woman is any less valuable because she falls in love or because she accepts help from somebody instead of girl bossing her way through her problems is not feminist."

"Snow White was about being kind, soft, and gentle. Now she's something different – is she running for president or something in this new movie? I don't want to see it," said another.

Others stated that they would rather watch "Snow White and the Huntsman", which has Kristen Stewart playing the character, or Lily Collins' depiction of Snow White in "Mirror Mirror" again if they are being presented with the same woke storyline over and over.

Zegler was also criticised for another interview, in which she called the prince in the original animated movie a stalker.

She stated, "The original cartoon came out in 1937 and it is very evident. There is a great emphasis on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird. So we didn't do that this time. An actor was hired for the film, Andrew Burnap, he's a great guy. All of Andrew's scenes could be deleted, who knows. It's Hollywood, baby."

Many who saw the interview stated that she didn't seem to understand the source material nor like the story in general, and should be replaced by another worthier actress instead.
