1 Sep - Although she plays one of the leads in the upcoming "Hunger Games" prequel, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes", it was revealed that Rachel Zegler's character will have no similarity at all to the protagonist of the original title, Katnis Everdeen. Speaking to Empire recently, director Francis Lawrence, who also directed the four "Hunger Games" movies, admitted that he was worried at first about the movie not having its own Katniss or worse, having another copy of Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence in the films, until he realised that Lucy Gray Baird of District 12 is a different kind of female character.
"Katniss was an introvert and a survivor. She was quite quiet and stoic, you could almost say [she was] asexual. Lucy Gray is the opposite. She wears her sexuality on her sleeve, [and] she really is a performer," he said.
He further described her as someone who uses her wits as her weapon, and would manipulate people for her own benefit. The character, which is portrayed by Rachel Zegler, is also the love interest of Coriolanus Snow, who would end up becoming the tyrannical president of Panem. The young Snow is played by Tom Blyth. The upcoming film will be released in cinemas on 17 November.
