13 Jul – "Rahsia", the remake of the 1987 movie of the same name, will premiere in cinemas nationwide starting this 10 August. The original horror film, directed by Othman Hafsham, created its own phenomenon back then and won the director the Best Director award at the 7th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM7) 1987. His son, Shamyl Othman, now carries on his legacy as the director for the "Rahsia" reboot. Shamyl is renowned for helming fan-favourites such as the film 'Kami Histeria' and the series 'Kau VS Aku'. The script for the "Rahsia" reboot is the work of Alfie Palermo, creator of the premium series "One Cent Thief".
Just like the original "Rahsia", the reboot also presents a stellar cast lineup. Ramlah, previously played Noor Kumalasari, is now played by Nabila Huda. Meanwhile, Hamdan, previously played by Shukery Hashim, is now played by Fikry Ibrahim. Other cast members of the reboot include Eman Manan, Marsha Milan, Rashidi Ishak, Qistina Raisah, Syed Ali Murtadha, Mislina Mustaffa, Aloy Paradoks and Nabil Zakaria, in addition to special appearances by Othman Hafsham and Susan Lankester. Executive Producer of "Rahsia" and the Vice President, Malay Nusantara Business & Head of Astro Shaw, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said, "Following the action-packed Polis Evo 3, Astro Shaw is proud to present our latest horror film Rahsia. For the first time ever, a local horror film returns with a reboot. We chose Rahsia because we believe that this film is truly a masterpiece, and its success in creating its own phenomenon in 1987 left a lasting impact not only for audiences, but also for the local film landscape as well when it became the first local film to be crowned the Best Film at the Malaysian Film Festival. Besides that, we believe that the story remains relevant till this very day."
"Rahsia" tells the story of Ramlah, who believes that her son who goes missing at the beach, has been hidden away by a mystical entity that has something to do with her old family home. For fellow fans and eager audiences, they can also be among the earliest to catch the film through its 'sneak preview' on beginning 9 August with the first showtime starting at 8pm. The film, with the tagline "Dia Takkan Pergi", features the original soundtrack "Alunan Lara", composed, written, and performed by Njwa.
