14 Nov – Despite some fans expressing their enjoyment at watching the movie, it seems that "The Marvels" continue to prove that Marvel is losing its grip at the box office.

The movie, which opened on 10 November, amassed only USD 47 million in the US box office, making it the worst opening number in the MCU history. It didn't fare well in the international box office as well, earning only USD 63.3 million for a global start of USD 110.3 million.

It is noted that the movie was made on a USD 200 million budget, excluding promotions.

The last Marvel movie prior to "The Marvels", "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" made USD 845.6 million at the box office, though many attributed it to James Gunn and it being the final volume of the said title rather than the MCU itself. Prior to that, "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" barely survived with USD 476.1 million from a USD 200 million budget.

In the new movie, Brie Larson returns as Captain Marvel, as she is joined by Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Paris). The film was directed by Nia DaCosta.

"Quantumania" was slammed by critics and fans alike

"GOTG Vol. 3" did much better though it was promoted as the final GOTG movie with the original cast
