22 Dec – Although Andy Serkis is not in the upcoming movie, "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes", director Wes Ball hopes that he would be able to bring the English actor in again for future "Planet of the Apes" movies.
Ball, who took over the director's seat from Matt Reeves, who helmed the last two "Planet of the Apes" reboot franchise, stated that while Serkis' character, the iconic Caesar is dead, he can see a future where the actor plays a different character in the saga.
"We talked about it, for sure. Like, 'Could you play another ape character?' I entertained that thought for a long time, because I thought it would be f-cking cool. And [director] Matt [Reeves] would always say, 'Andy is the best actor I've ever worked with'," he said. Ball added, "He's just too iconic, in a way. So, we decided it's probably best to think about future movies where maybe he can come in." "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" began nearly 300 years after the events of the first reboot movie, where a common chimpanzee called Noa (Owen Teague) embarks on a harrowing journey alongside a young human named Mae (Freya Allen) to determine the future for apes and humans alike.
