22 Mar – The screening of the British indie slasher movie, "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" has been cancelled in Hong Kong.

Said its distributor VII Pillars Entertainment, the movie was scheduled to open on 23 March in 32 cinemas in Hong Kong as well as Macau, before it was revealed that the cinemas have cancelled all screenings.

The company also apologised to all audiences who have already bought pre-sale tickets, saying that they will continue to bring high-quality and unique movies to present to audiences in the future.

Although no reason was given as to why the movie has been cancelled, many speculated that it could have something to do with China censorship rules spilling into Hong Kong.

It is noted that China censors have targeted the A.A. Milne character Winnie the Pooh in the past, due to internet memes comparing the rotund honey bear to President Xi Jinping. Some even began using the said image during protests.

Directed by Rhys Waterfield, "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" has a bloodthirsty Winnie the Pooh and Piglet terrorising Christopher Robin and a group of young women at a remote house.
