18 Jun - Austin Butler has dismissed the notion that he has been cast to star in an upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean" reboot project.

The actor, who spoke to Entertainment Tonight as he promoted his new movie, "The Bikeriders" alongside co-star Jodie Comer, said that he hasn't heard of such a rumour, despite having loved the franchise.

"That just reminded me of when I was a kid. In elementary school, we had to make these posters that had like your favorite music, your favourite actors," said Butler. "And at that time - I don't know what grade, it must have been fourth grade, third grade or something - but it was - Pirates of the Caribbean was on there."

Nonetheless, the actor said that he is hesitant about touching what was one of the most successful Disney franchises.

"They did it so well. I loved what Johnny [Depp] did with that," he added, referring to Depp's iconic character, Captain Jack Sparrow.

It was earlier revealed that Disney is currently in the process of developing two new POTC movies, including a reboot and an all-female spinoff.
