27 Dec - Afdlin Shauki is elated that his movie will be featured in the Limelight category at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in Netherlands this January.

The filmmaker, who spoke about the selection, said that the good news helps in a way after the movie failed to receive much interest when it was released in Malaysia.

"Honestly, I was a little sad that the film didn't get a word of mouth when it was released. It made me think, am I not good at filmmaking anymore? So, the selection to Rotterdam, it being a recognition from a European festival, made me proud that my work is being recognised," he said.

Meanwhile, Afdlin said that he hopes that the movie will get a good reception when it is released at the festival.

"I will be going to the festival too, God willing," he added.

The film reunites the comedy duo Johan and Zizan Razak (aka JOZAN) and tells the story of two brother Aloy and Ale who decide to launch their own money lending operation, only to draw the ire of a mafia boss with the same business.

The film decided to go the musical route, with the actors performing 18 songs throughout the movie.

The 54th edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam takes place from 30 January until 9 February 2025.
