7 Aug – BFFs Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to produce a new movie, which will revolve around the Bollea vs Gawker case. Bollea in this case is wrestler Terry Bollea, known to the public as Hulk Hogan. As reported on THR, the duo's company, Artists Equity has hired Gus Van Sant to helm the movie called "Killing Gawker", which is based on the Ryan Holiday's 2018 book, "Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Intrigue".
The case, which occurred in 2016, was the catalyst to the fall of Gawker Media's website, after the company had to pay USD 31 million to Hulk Hogan after the wrestler sued them for publishing a video footage of his sex tape with a woman named Heather Clem. The said woman was the wife of radio personality, Bubba the Love Sponge, who happened to be Hulk's best friend. The video was allegedly sent by an anonymous source and had occurred five years prior. It was also revealed that PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel was the one who helped financed his lawsuit. Casting has yet to be finalised although rumours have been flying that Affleck will be playing the famed wrestler.
