22 Oct - Leading cinema exhibitor, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has confirmed the closure of its GSC Citta Mall location on 30 October 2024, as part of the organisation's strategic plans to optimise operational efficiency. According to CEO, Ms. Koh Mei Lee, the consolidation effort of GSC Citta Mall enables the on-ground crews to focus at more strategic locations with higher footfall and population density, with the nearest cinema location at GSC Paradigm Mall, located less than 5km away. "As the market leader, GSC's focus is in bringing future-ready entertainment experiences to movie-goers, taking into consideration changing consumer preferences at viable locations and adapting to current market conditions. Other recent on ground operational efficiency initiatives include the digitisation and automation of the movie-goer's buying journey, which includes a recent upgrade of GSC's mobile app and the introduction of their Gen 5 ticketing and concession kiosks," she said. These enhancements are all aimed to deliver best-in-class service for the moviegoers. Recognising the dynamic shifts in consumer preferences for entertainment, GSC said that they have transitioned from merely providing cinematic experiences to offering comprehensive entertainment journeys. This strategic shift is evident in their recent openings at Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX, Velvet Cinemas by GSC, Sunway 163 Mall and GSC KL East Mall.
