Japan Foundation to hold special screening of "My Small Land"

9 Jul - The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur is thrilled to present a special screening of the Japanese drama film "My Small Land".

Directed by Emma Kawawada, the movie tells the story of the resilience of a Kurdish refugee girl named Sarya as her family tries to navigate their lives in Japan while facing the difficulties of getting their visas approved and seeking refuge in a foreign country.

The film's director Ms Kawawada will be returning to Malaysia to attend screenings and post-screenings Q&A sessions, in Kuala Lumpur and Kuching this month.

The screening in Kuala Lumpur is scheduled at GSC Mid Valley on 17 July (Wednesday) at 8PM, while the Kuching screening will take place at GSC CityONE Megamall on 19 July (Friday) at 8:30PM, in conjunction with the 20th Mini Film Festival (MFF) run by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

Additionally, MFF will host a workshop titled "Storytelling in Filmmaking" by Ms. Kawawada on 20 July (Saturday) at 4:30PM. Check MFF's social media channels for more details on the registration to the screening and workshop in Kuching.
