2 Feb – Margot Robbie is not at all saddened by her lack of Best Actress nomination at the Academy Awards, not when she had been receiving lots of love and support from the public. The actress, who spoke during a panel at a special SAG screening on 30 January, stated that she felt blessed by all the nice things people have been saying, but admitted that she still felt Greta Gerwig should have had her name in the list of nominations for the Best Director category. "Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it's been an incredible year for all the films," she said.
Robbie, who also produced the "Barbie" movie, stated that she is beyond ecstatic that the film received eight nominations. "Everyone getting the nods that they've had is just incredible, and the Best Picture nod. We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact. And it's already done that, and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this," she added. Robbie missed the Best Actress nominations, which has Annette Bening, Sandra Huler, Carey Mulligan, Emma Stone, and Native American Lily Gladstone competing for the accolade. Stone has already won similar accolade at the Golden Globes earlier.
