"Masters of the Universe" live-action movie gets theatrical release date

3 May – Amazon MGM has finally found the perfect date to release the long-delayed project, "Masters of the Universe".

The movie, which is based on a Mattel toy and to be directed by Travis Knight, will be released worldwide on 5 June 2026.

That means the movie will be facing competition in the likes of "Toy Story 5", as well as an untitled project to be helmed by "Everything Everywhere All At Once" duo, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

The logline of the new movie read, "The film will follow 10-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword - the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor."

"But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!"
