16 Jan – "Mechamato" is making a record of its own by becoming the first animated feature from Malaysia to be released in Japanese cinemas. Speaking about the Japanese release, Monsta's CEO, Nizam Abd Razak stated that they are working with Aeon Entertainment Japan to get popular Japanese seiyuu (voice actors) as a way to promote the movie. "We hope that this effort will attract Japanese viewers to watch our movie and share their experience," he said. Among the famous seiyuu who will be voicing the characters include Ayumu Murase (Amato), Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (MechaBot), and Kenjiro Tsuda (General Grakakus).
Nizam also expressed elation over the great reception the movie had at its premiere, which took place at Aeon Chofu, Tokyo. "They never expected that Malaysia is capable of producing international standard animation with a storyline that could get their children glued to their seats for nearly two hours.
