Michelle Yeoh clears air on Best Actress handoff to Emma Stone

12 Mar – Michelle Yeoh recently took to social media to apologise to Emma Stone, over the slight confusion that occurred on stage at the Oscars.

The last year's Oscar winner, who presented the Best Actress award to the "Poor Things" star, was seen holding tightly to the accolade as Stone tried to take it, and then passed it to fellow presenter Jennifer Lawrence, who then quickly handed it to Stone.

Explaining the situation on social media following the ceremony, Michelle wrote, "Congratulations Emma! I confused you, but I wanted to share that glorious moment of handing over Oscar to you together with your best friend Jennifer!! She reminded me of my Bae Jamie Lee Curtis, always there for each other!!"

It is noted that the situation went viral online earlier, with many accusing Stone and Lawrence of discriminating against Asians for ignoring Michelle on stage. Robert Downey Jr. was also accused of such after he accepted the Best Supporting Actor from last year winner, Ke Huy Quan without acknowledging the actor.

Michelle won the category last year for her performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once", while Lawrence has won through "Silver Linings Playbook" in 2013.
